Love is in the air

Love Bug © Little Star Soup/Creative Converting

The first quarter ended recently, and this was our most popular tableware set. It's a Baby Shower set called 'Love Bug'. I love the little die-cut onesie shaped plate. We really focused our efforts on paper tableware in 2007. We're proud to have our designs on a variety of collections, so that Little Star Soup can be part of different celebrations throughout the year. Love Bug is available here.

Dreaming of Christmas

"I'm dreaming of a white Christmas" is what you'll hear coming from our studio. We have our favorite Christmas carol CD on heavy rotation. Why Christmas in April? Because we're putting the finishing touches on our Joyful snowmen for Surtex. It's all about getting in the mood. The sunshine peeking through our window makes me dream of the beach, but for right now, we're in our snowy little world.

20 Days till Surtex

Our booth at the 2007 Surtex show.

The countdown to the Surtex show has begun. Things are a blur in the studio. Surtex is the only trade show we do, and this will be our 5th year exhibiting (I can't believe that). One of the best parts of the show is seeing everyone in person. In today's world everything is done by email, so it's nice to put a face and a voice to those words.

New Cards

One of my favorite greeting card manufacturers is Great Arrow Graphics. All of their cards are hand-silkscreened, right here in upstate NY. They are truly little works of art, and I am very happy to be one of their contributing artists. Two of my latest cards with them just came out, Neon New Year, and Menorah with Confetti. They are available right here.

Louie Award Nominee

inside: "From To-Do's to I Do's. Congratulations on your Wedding Day."

The movie industry has the Oscars, Broadway has the Tony, and the Greeting Card industry has the Louie. We are thrilled to be nominated in the Wedding/Engagement/Anniversary (Above $3.00) category. Yes, they have a lot of categories. My love for greeting cards is the reason why we started out in the licensing world. Greeting cards are great little works of art, and connect people in such a special way. I luv cards.

PS - We were nominated a couple of year's ago in the New Year's category, but lost to a stunning MOMA card. We're keeping our fingers crossed this year.

Welcome

Welcome to the world of Little Star Soup. We're so glad you could join us. Little Star Soup is an Illustration & Design studio, that's a magical partnership between a designer who loves to write (me), and a writer who loves to draw (my husband). We wanted to start a blog, so we could share what's been happening in our little world. Spring is a really busy time of year for us, but we hope to share some exciting new work.

Thank you for stopping by.
